Solarlux bifolding doors are some of the very best in the world. If well-known architects choose the best products they can for their projects then Solarlux is their choice of architects such as Sir Norman Foster, Hermann Hertzberger and Daniel Libeskind. They use Solarlux doors.
Every one of our class-leading bifolding and sliding doors come with excellent quality, performance and looks. They’ll complement your new extension perfectly. However, just as there are different features and benefits with all types of products we buy, so Solarlux bifolding doors come with features you won’t find on any other bifold – even those in the same upper-tier such as Schuco. Solarlux bifolding doors may cost a little more, but the investment is well worth it.
Why Solarlux bifolding doors are different
First of all is the pedigree and history of the company. Solarlux invented the bifolding door in aluminium. The products are only made in Germany and only certain installers get to provide this brand. alühome is proud to be one of these installers.
Solarlux products have, for over 35 years been the leaders in innovation, technical excellence and long lifespan. As well as bifolding doors, the Cero Sliding Door is in the upper echelon of sliding doors with sizes up to six metres high and incredible levels of performance and engineering.
It’s this engineering and design found in a Solarlux bifold that makes them different. Precision design, obsessive product quality and long service life. Here are just some things making Solarlux folding doors different and better.
The slimmest bifolding doors on the market.
With sightlines of just 99mm, Solarlux bifolding doors are the thinnest on the market.
These sightlines surpass even the renowned Schuco bifold and best-of-British Origin OB-49 model.
The advantage of thinner sightlines is larger glass panels, more light and better views. The visible aluminium on the door itself is also less prominent.
The attention to detail only with Solarlux
It’s the small details that matter. The doors fully open stack neater and take up less space. The frames come with full adjustment making installation faster and easier.
In the unlikely even of adjustment in the future, this is also straightforward.
Even the insulation and thermal break is designed not just to provide energy efficiency. It also provides secure locking and fixing points for the door hardware.
Hardware made only for the product
Even the premium brands of bifolding doors, with some exceptions use hardware available on other brands of bifolding doors. Solarlux door hardware is designed specifically for their product.
Even better, the hardware is designed to work in harmony with the rest of the door components. So where the rollers, hinges and locks may be different manufacturers on some other doors, Solarlux hardware is engineered for the best performance, service and functionality.
Study the intermediate handles closely and you’ll see a neat and discreet rubber, designed to protect the paint finish with the handle, soft close of course, rests in position.
An excellent example with the door hinges. The design of a Solarlux door does away with a middle hinge. Where virtually every other bifold relies on three hinges per panel, these doors need just two on most standard house sizes. The Solarlux-designed Twin-X system does away with a middle hinge, yet keeps the doors stable, and ensures the doors align correctly together when they close. Of course, fewer hinges make for a better-looking door as well.
It’s only when you touch and feel the handles on a Solarlux door does the quality shine through. The feel and weight is solid, reassuring and tells you there’s genuine engineering and great design compared with other doors.
A better bifolding door threshold
The channel design on most bifolding doors means routine cleaning so dirt and grit don’t interfere with the door rollers. This is one characteristic around any bifolding door where the rollers sit within their track.
Solarlux bifolding doors come with the threshold having a neat cover plate concealing the track. Not only does this plate make the entire threshold look better, it keeps it cleaner too.
And Solarlux thresholds come in several different types. As well as a standard or low, there’s a ramp type for pushchairs or wheelchairs. Even better, most other bifolds with a low threshold option don’t come with any weather protection. Solarlux bifolds do.
You can clean Solarlux bifolding doors better
Where bifolding doors are at high level such as apartments, an ingenious design feature lets the user reverse the doors, cleaning the opposite panel from outside.
The hinges split in two, letting you clean the hard to reach edges of the door normally joined together and hard to reach.
